The first document is important in our study of essays, and for improving students' reading and writing in general. The second is exercises on the topic of coherence. PLEASE NOTE: THESE SHEETS ARE BEING EVALUATED AS JOURNAL #3.
Grade 9 English - Unity and Coherence Grade 9 English - Journal #3: Coherence Exercises . . . is Tuesday, Oct. 17. Watch this space for further reminders and review.
Students in 9-5 who receive accommodations are reminded to stay in communication with the teacher regarding what they need to do / bring on test days. Learning to be advocates for themselves is vital as students advance through their school years! (Parents, of course, should still feel free to contact me with any questions at all regarding their child's progress.)
Recently in class we worked on a Motivator / Demotivator visual assignment. The assignment was due on Friday, Oct. 6, and a link is attached below.
Motivational Demotivational Visual Assignment Below is a document that describes how students can try to take a supporting quotation from the piece of literature they are writing about and INTEGRATE it into the flow of their own sentences. This leads to better marks, but can only be achieved through practices. Students are urged to see me one-on-one for further help on how to do this.
Integrating Quotations Into Your Writing Students are reminded to bring in a non-perishable food item for the Macdonald Drive Junior High Thanksgiving Food Drive, which ends Friday, Oct. 6!
A copy of an assignment already done and marked; students who come and see the teacher can take it home to do it again.
PSAs and Messsage Journals will be due for evaluation once students have completed #3 and #4. Stay tuned for due date. Reminder of Independent Novel Book Talk |
